Uganda Tea Development Agency is a management agency
share owned by the Tea factories of Kayonza and Igara on a 50:50
basis, UTDA was formed to increase efficiency and effectiveness
of the management, through provision of specialized services such
as,
Legal advice and services to the producer factories
Factory management
Production Management
Agricultural and extension services.
Factory operations and human resource management
Marketing
Financial advice and control
Procurement
Plant Engineering and factory maintenance
Our Mission:
To provide effective management services to Igara and kayonza tea
factories to produce high quality teas that fetch a premium price
in the world market in a sustainble manner.
Vision: To
prople Kayonza and Igara companies to leading positions in the East
African Tea Industry.

A gender sensitive staff of 21 highly qualified and dedicated team
supports the operations of the agency. This is in pursuit of the
UTDAL mission to provide effective management services to Igara
and kayonza tea factories to produce high quality teas that fetch
a premium price in the world market in a sustainble manner.
Currently, Kayonza and Igara tea factories are the best quality
tea-producing factories in Uganda, with most grades competing favorably
with factories West of the rift in Kenya, the benchmark country
in tea production and manufacture in Africa. Tea packers such as
Tea Direct (UK) cannot miss the two factories' teas in their blend.
All the operations of the agency are done in close collaboration
with the Ministry of Agriculture, Uganda Tea Association, and all
other stakeholders in the tea industry. The Agency board comprises
of 5 members, drawn from the 2 factories under the UTDAL Management.
The General Manager heads the staff.
