Igara Growers Tea Factory Ltd does not only stand out at a country level but on an International level as well. Here are some of the standards that Igara Growers has attained over time;

  • ISO 2200:2005 Food safety management systems certified
    Food safety is linked to the presence of food-borne hazards in food at the point of consumption. Since food safety hazards can occur at any stage in the food chain it is essential that adequate control be in place. Therefore, a combined effort of all parties through the food chain is required.

Igara growers Tea Factory was the 5th company in Uganda to get this certification.

Gaining the ISO 22000 meant:

  • HACCP Certified – Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points
    Hazard analysis and critical control points, or HACCP is a systematic preventive approach to food safety and pharmaceutical safety that addresses physical, chemical, and biological hazards as a means of prevention rather than finished product inspection.
  • Now pursing Rain Forest Alliance Certification
  • ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Systems certified

The ISO 14000 environmental management standards exist to help organizations (a) minimize how their operations (processes etc.) negatively affect the environment (i.e. cause adverse changes to air, water, or land); (b) comply with applicable laws, regulations, and other environmentally oriented requirements, and (c) continually improve in the above.
